What I Read in January

Like everyone, I felt like January draaaaaged by, but now countdown to baby is in full swing and I am not ready - so February can take her sweet time! I jumped around a bit with books in January as well, so a few I started and haven't yet finished. Gives me some momentum going into February!

Overall, though, read some good books in January!

Sandwich

Sandwich by Catherine Newman: This was a well-written LitFic about a woman in the sandwich generation - still somewhat taking care of grown kids, and also taking care of elderly parents. While the target audience is likely a bit older than me, strong character development and enjoyable to read - would recommend!

Charm Offensive

The Charm Offensive by Alison Cochran: This was our February Poppy's Paints book club book, and I loved it! Book club members also enjoyed. It is a behind-the-scenes look at a Bachelor-inspired show. Lots of fun, especially if you've ever been into the franchises. Would recommend!

Hillbilly Elegy

Hillbilly Elegy by JD Vance: While I don't agree with many (most) of JD Vance's political stances, I thought it was important to hear from the source vs. filtered through other people's opinions. It gave me a better idea of who JD is and where he came from, and also I walked away confused how the JD Vance from the book is the same guy who has made such offensive and divisive statements as of late.

Guncle Abroad

The Guncle Abroad by Steven Rowley: I LOVED the Guncle, and was excited to hear of a sequel. As with many sequels, I prefer the first to the second, but it was fun to be back with GUP (Gay Uncle Patrick), Maisie, and Grant as they were off on a new adventure. Would recommend!

xoxo,
Emma
