Hello, again!

Hello, my dear readers (who have probably stopped reading long ago)!

My blogging thus far has been relatively contained to my overseas adventures, but having just graduated from the greatest adventure of my life thus far, I find myself missing the picture sharing and story telling.  What to write about, however, is the new question!  But as I contemplated the subject of my blogging, I realized that my "Germany: Up Close" blog had a compelling theme: jumping feet first into whatever is right in front of me!  So, I decided to stick with it, changing the title to "Life: Up Close."  The theme leaves the content vague, but I've decided to make the blog a reflection of my life and put whatever floats my boat in here.  I decided to keep my travel stories viewable on my blog.  Mainly because, well, it floats my boat!

So, what's on the blog for today?  Watermelon cupcakes!  I just started an internship at a non-profit called the Christian Foundation for the Children and the Aging, and I realized that my new office job gave me a great opportunity.  I love making cupcakes, not only because they taste good, but also because they are just so cute!  But my hips do not love it when I make cupcakes.  I realized, though, that my office has lovely people who probably like to eat cupcakes.  So when I happened upon a recipe for Watermelon Cake while perusing Pinterest (shout-out to birdonacake.blogspot.com), I thought I had to try them!

They turned out great!!

Careful there, don't drool on your keyboard.

And they tasted as good as they look! (She's a humble baker, too!)

During the spring, my roommate and I started a small tradition of going to Einstein Brothers on Monday morning for bagels and coffee.  While just a small treat, it significantly increased my moods on Monday mornings, and Monday suddenly was no longer a day to dread.  And mornings, or all things, were no longer horrible (ok, maybe that was the excessive caffeine in the coffee).  I'm seriously considering applying this logic to cupcakes, making Sunday night the official cupcake creation night, supplying treats for the following Monday.  We'll see how long this keeps up, and how long before my office starts calling me The Cupcake Lady.  There are worse nicknames.

The brainstorm has begun for next week's flavor.  Plus, I'm pretty sure next week I will have a guest baker helping me out!!

Love,
Emma
