Maximizing Small Spaces

Lately, I've felt like our family has been busting at the seams of our condo.  We love our neighborhood and our neighbors, but with my husband and I both working from home, our baby, our nanny, and our dog, our condo has felt a bit full these days.

My husband and I have turned our 2nd bedroom into an office and guest bedroom.  We did quite a few things to make it ours, including installing some super fun accent wallpaper, hanging a portrait of my late grandma, and framing a picture we took on our honeymoon.  Our original plan was to trade off using that office space and using a desk we set up in the corner of our bedroom, but we found this didn't really work - having to move things in and out of the room vs. feeling settled.

For a variety of reasons, I ended up working out of our bedroom much more regularly than my husband.  Since we were feeling cramped, we were planning to move this summer/fall, and so I figured it was something I could muddle through.  Recently, though, we decided to give it another year-ish before we move, and I realized I needed to make a change.  With a new chair and new rug, I rearranged the room and set up a much more comfortable "office" space that feels much more like my own.  I'm super happy with how it turned out!

And here's the before, tucked in the corner with tons of clutter all over the place and all:

My mom also came into town to help declutter some of the other rooms in the house, so slowly but surely making sure our space keeps working for us as long as it can!
