What I Read in October
My reading was seasonal this month, with a focus on Halloween books.

The Dead Romantics by Ashley Poston: I wanted to read this one since I paired it with my ghost crafts for Poppy's Paints. It was so cute! Would definitely recommend.

Such Sharp Teeth by Rachel Harrison: I had requested this one on Libby around Halloween last year, and I didn't get off of the waitlist until after Halloween. I've been delaying my check-out since last year. Funny enough, I started reading this one and got pulled into Dead Romantics, so ended up buying this anyway because my book expired at the library before I could finish it. Definitely a good Halloween read - would recommend!

The Making of Biblical Womanhood by Beth Allison Barr: nonfiction and definitely not what I normally read. I could make a joke about how this was the scariest book I read all month. The takeaway was mainly what I expected: that the Bible has been conveniently interpreted to downplay the role of women. Underscores the disappointment at the lack of action that happened at the recent Synod. Would only recommend if you're already interested in this topic.

The Mermaid Chair by Sue Monk Kidd: This was a favorite book of mine in high school, which is a really weird book to like as a high schooler. I had been wanting to re-read it, and found it in a free little library near me, so was excited to read. I've always loved coming of age stories, and this is a coming-of-middle-age story of sorts. Definitely read it with a fresh perspective this time around. Would recommend!
We're heading into the busy-ness of the holiday season, so we'll see how much I read in November! I do have a couple highly anticipated reads I just started, so we shall see! I also signed up for NaNoWriMo and am already way behind :D but we'll see how far I can get in writing my novel!
